The Orb Journey: My Evolution as an Artist
The act of creation is a mysterious and magical process. As artists, we channel inspirations from life experiences into physical form using whatever mediums we connect with. The Orb has become the focal point of my creative journey over the past year.
When I first conceived of the Orb collection in early 2023, I wanted a way to represent community. Circles and spheres reflect unity, wholeness, and inclusion. I envisioned a series of Orbs dedicated to themes of togetherness, each Orb representing an online community that binds people across distances through shared values and ideas.
The first Orb dropped as a Bitcoin NFT in February 2023, visualized as a nebula — a stellar nursery where stars are born. This Orb was dedicated to the NFT community, which fostered my development as a digital artist. As an early Atom Collector, I was drawn to the welcoming spirit of NFT brands like Deadfellaz, CyberKongz, and SupDucks. These projects embraced me, offered feedback, and inspired me to keep creating. The NFT community became my nebula, nurturing my artistic growth.
The Bitcoin Orb was my first fully on-chain NFT collection. This personal milestone represented the convergence of my artistic passion and the open digital economy. Translating the visual elements of my work into a Bitcoin NFT and a cohesive Orb challenged me to develop more complex technical skills.
The enthusiastic response from the NFT community gave me confidence in my technical abilities. But more importantly, I felt proud to take decentralized art to the next level. That pride and fulfillment marked a turning point in my mindset. I now saw myself as an artist and a builder of new creative frontiers.
After the Bitcoin Orb drop, I decided to take a short hiatus to reflect on my artistic path forward. I identified the spherical form as a key theme I wanted to explore further. Circles, spheres, orbits, cycles — these universal shapes reflect the interconnectedness and harmony of life.
Beyond formal shapes, the metaphor of an Orb symbolizes seeing the world as a unified whole. An Orb encapsulates a community, an ecosystem, a planet. It represents wholeness, inclusion, and equilibrium. As I enter the next phase of my career, the Orb will be central in my conceptual process for designing NFTs and physical works.
I aim to continuously re-interpret the Orb concept in new ways, both digitally and physically. How can I bring its symbolism of unity and wholeness into each creation? What new meanings can emerge when I visualize the Orb across different mediums? As an artist, I aim to bridge digital and physical expression, with the Orb as an anchor between both realms.
I am excited to introduce my first new Orb creations / collaborations — first, an L2-based Orb edition that will be airdropped to every collector who has burned their ETH-based Bitcoin Orb.
Second, the BTC edition of the Waxbones orb.
Third, an Open Edition wireframe Orb released on an Ethereum L2. This minimalist Orb breaks the 3D form into linear contours, emphasizing the underlying geometry. It evokes drafting, planning, and imagination. I view this Orb as a bridge from my initial series to the next evolution.
The key feature is the ability for owners to burn the next Open Edition Orb in exchange for a randomly selected Orb artwork from my catalog. This represents shedding one form to adopt another — an artistic metamorphosis. As my work has progressed through creating the Orbs, collectors can transform their Orb artwork into new configurations.
At the core, my journey as an artist remains driven by community. The supportive ecosystems I am part of online and in real life constantly motivate me to envision new perspectives. As we build this decentralized future together, I hope my Orb artwork can play a small role in reminding us of our shared humanity. There is beauty in recognizing we are all part of the same cosmic whole.
The Orb is now my compass in this artistic voyage. Its uncomplicated perfection centers my vision. Each Orb work I create aims to reflect the wholeness and harmony of a diverse yet unified community. This creative path looks forward while honoring the progress made thus far. I am deeply grateful for the communities that have elevated me, and I hope to give back through this symbolic shape. As we orbit together on this planet and journey beyond as a civilization, may we always remember our shared bonds.
